Janette was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Kilpatrick Corbett. She was married to Daniel D. Faulkner on July 1. 1847 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They moved to Granville,(now Milwaukee) Milwaukee, Wisconsin shortly after they married. There Daniel bought an eighty acre farm and built an eleven room house for their growing family. He donated a part of the land for the Granville Station Elementary School. Daniel avoided military service in the Civil War because of having so many children and by paying $300 for a substitute to go in his place. In the 1860's $300 was a huge amount of money. When son, William had health problems, they moved to Petersburg, Virgina and then later to Ballard, Washington. The Northminister Presbyterian Church was founded in the parlor of their home.
Daniel and Janette were parents to seven sons and five daughters.
