Kate married in Manchester, England and in 1909 emigrated to the US. She and her husband, Israel, owned a grocery store in the Boyle Heights district of Los Angeles in the 1920s and 30s. Her husband worked the store and she drove a truck everyday to pick up meat and produce in downtown LA. Her grandchildren remember her for the wonderful Sunday dinners she fixed for the family and for her long grey hair which she wore braided and wrapped around her head in the daytime.
