Sandra Lee Adams, 68, died peacefully June 18, 2009, at her home in Anchorage. A service was held at St. Patrick's Parish, 2111 Muldoon Road. Immediately afterward, a potluck celebration was held in the reception hall.
Sandra was born on June 13, 1941, in Atlantic, Iowa. She was the eighth of nine children born to Harry Glee Evans and Nellie Faye Evans. In 1953, the family moved to Anchorage, where Sandra remained. "Sandra was a free spirited, creative woman and had many interests including singing, playing the piano, sewing, quilting and drawing, amongst other forms of art," her family recalled. "She loved jumping in the motorhome for the weekend, going shopping, and looking up the history of our ancestry. "Sandra lived a full life dedicated to her husband, kids and grandkids. She considered homemaking as a very important role and felt there should be a place for everything and everything in its place. Sandra was confident, self assured and knew exactly what she wanted. She was also the most generous person you would ever meet. Sandra was the matriarch of this family; she spent much time teaching us the importance of sticking together, loving and respecting one another. She was an adviser, a listener, and accepting of us all. Sandra will not be forgotten." She will be "dearly missed" by those who knew her.
Sandra is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Harold Adams; son, Robert Adams; daughter, Nedra Oeder; grandchildren, Samantha Casteel, Jeffery Adams and Sharlee Oeder; her beloved great-grandson, Devin Casteel; brothers and sisters, Harry Evans, Norma Rourick, Arlene Weiderhold, Shirley Soucy and Sally Seeley; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel. Visit the online memorial at legacy.com
