He was supposed to have created quite a stir in the congregation when he demanded his slaves be allowed to worship in the church with him. The congregation did not like this. William, his wife and brother Jacob and his wife are buried in this cemetery which is behind the stone church. There are also assorted children and grandchildren buried here.
