Wendy C. Burke, 54, of John Day, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at her home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 29, at the Mt. Vernon Grange Hall. Friends and relatives are invited to reminisce.
Mrs. Burke was born Jan. 11, 1956, in Prairie City, to Wayne and Ruth Harris of John Day. She attended John Day schools and Grant Union High School.
On March 19, 1983, she married Dave Burke at Grace Chapel in Prairie City. They enjoyed 27 years together.
An expert bowler, she belonged to several teams over the years. She was very creative with sewing, macrame and crafts, and loved flower gardening at her West Bench Road home.
She worked for her mother at The Juniper Press, delivering papers as a youngster and helping with production of the paper in later years.
Survivors include her husband, Dave; three daughters, Rhonda Vickers of John Day, and Rhiannon Harris and Tenacia Burke, both of Prineville; a son, Wesly Burke of Baker City; her mother, Ruth Harris of John Day; three grandsons; two brothers; one sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Harris.
