Robert J. "Bob" Bittell, of New Oxford, died June 2, 2010, in Hershey. He was the husband of Marilyn A. (English) Bittell.

Born January 11, 1933, in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Robert L. and Margaret O. (Morrisey) Bittell.

Mr. Bittell was a graduate of West Orange High School, NJ.

He enlisted with the U.S. Navy and was a Korean War Veteran, serving aboard both the U.S.S. Forest Royal and U.S.S. Fiske.

Upon honorable discharge, he later would graduate "Cum Laude" from the Newark College of Engineering in 1963. Mr. Bittell worked in the field of Electrical Engineering for Public Service in New Jersey and later with Leeds and Northrop, North Wales, PA. He established and worked in his own company, "Coseco, Inc." for 20 years. He then worked for Computerized Screening, Inc. (CSI) for 16 years until the time of his death.

Bob was an avid reader of history and politics, a gourmet cook, gardener, fisherman, and enjoyed mastering crossword puzzles. He most enjoyed spending time with his family. His laughter and presence will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

In addition to his wife, Marilyn, Bob is survived by two sons, Michael J. Bittell and wife, Ruth of Lansdale, and Steven R. Bittell of New Oxford; two daughters, Deborah J. Smith and husband, Jeffrey of Chesterfield, VA, and Susan M. Spangler and husband, Steven of New Oxford; four grandsons, Eric Bittell, Benjamin Smith and Samuel Smith, and Noah Spangler of New Oxford; two granddaughters, April Bittell, and Faith Spangler of New Oxford; and one great-granddaughter.

He was predeceased by a son, James P. Bittell, in 2008.

Interment was in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery, New Oxford, with military rites provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
