He was a lifetime resident of Loving, Texas. He and Ruth Juanita Woodall were married on 17 April 1946, in Reno, Nev. He was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Loving Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8567. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Karen Elaine Hurford; a son, Harry Eugene Vance, Jr.; a sister, Mary Lee Dickson; and four grandchildren.

1st Sgt. Harry E. Vance, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Vance, Loving, husband of Jaunita Woodall, attended Loving School. Entered Army in 1942, trained at Camp Rucker, Ala., Nashville, Tenn., Camp Horne, Ariz., and in Cal. Served in S. Philippines, and Palau. Awarded AT Ribbon, AP Ribbon, Phil. Lib., with 1 bronze star, Victory Ribbon, and GCM. Discharged in 1946.
