He was a member of Loving Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8567. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Karen Elaine Hurford; a son, Harry Eugene Vance, Jr.; a sister, Mary Lee Dickson; and four grandchildren.
