Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Thelma Atkin Holyoak Barber, 92, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2010 in Cedar City, Utah. She was born March 6, 1918 in Beaver, Utah to Heber and Mae Smith Atkin. She graduated from Beaver High School in 1936. She married Thomas Holyoak in 1936 and he passed away in 1966. She then married F. Webb Barber on November 3, 1967. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. Webb passed away in 1993.

She was a café waitress for many years and then worked for the Coleman Company, where she made many life long friends, eventually retiring from Coleman at the age of 71. She was a very good seamstress and enjoyed several hobbies and was famous for her homemade chicken and noodles. Thelma enjoyed associating with countless friends throughout her life.
Thelma had a very special love for her three dogs. She enjoyed working in her yard and on her rose bushes and flowers each year. She had a great love for her Bishop, Reed Erickson, who also served her faithfully as a Home Teacher.
Thelma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We are certain a joyous reunion is taking place as Thelma is preceded in death and reunited with both her parents, her brother Alton, sisters Arvilla Gale and Lottie Hunt, her daughter Charleen Barber and four infant children who were lost at birth.
She is survived by her children, Thomas "Tink" (Virginia) Holyoak and Cullen (Kae) Holyoak, both of Cedar City, Utah. Her sisters Lois Carter and Althea Utley. Also her 20 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren (and two on the way!) And 12 great-great grandchildren (with one more on the way!). She loved each of us very much. We loved our mom and she will be dearly missed until we meet again.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Cedar 2nd/8th Ward Chapel, 212 West 200 South, Cedar City. Viewings will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 North 300 West Cedar City, Utah and again on Wednesday, June 2, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the chapel prior to funeral services. Internment will be at the Cedar City Cemetery, all under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be sent to www.southernutahmortuary.com.
The family wishes to thank all those at Kolob Regional for the loving care and assistance they always offered our Mother, especially Jeanine Reynolds and her therapy, which always provided Mom with such comfort.
