Andrew and Karin were married in Sweden before coming to America in 1900 on the Ship CITY OF ROME. They settled in Duluth first, then lived in Warba before coming to Jessie Lake. They homestead and built a log cabin by the road between (what is now) Talmoon and Jessie Lake. That home was built by 1903. Andrew married and divorced a lady named Lena after Karin died. His third marriage was a lady named Anna who came to work for him as a housekeeper. Anna came from Sweden via Duluth, and the Alzen kids knew her as Grandma Anna. Anna (1875-1951) died in Duluth. Andrew died suddenly at age 54 while driving his horse and buggy to Jessie Lake for supplies. His death was a result of heart problems. Anna died in Duluth (1875-1951)
Anders had another daughter, Gunhild (1899-1972) born in Sweden, married Herman Dalquist, later married John Gustafson, they lived in Port Wing, Wisconsin.
