The following source assigns Henry as a "supposed" son of Aerd rather than John.

Henry VANKIRK purchased land in Monmouth Co. NJ 17 Apr 1725 (DB-D2 p. 143) about two years after his marriage to Dorothy MORGAN. Henry's son John, who went to Pennsylvania in 1787 was baptized at the Marlboro Dutch Church in Monmouth Co. NJ 1 Nov 1724. Henry later moved to Hopewell Twp. Hunterdon Co. (now Mercer Co.) NJ.

HENRY VANKIRK OF HOPEWELL

Henry, the oldest son of John of Freehold, moved to Hopewell before 1751. His will, written 18 Dec 1775 was probated 3 Apr 1776. It gives his wife Sarah 2 featherbeds, furniture and other household goods, a side saddle, bridle, and other things necessary for housekeeping, a negro wench named Dinah, the use of 'that part of my dwelling house that I now occupy, 1/3 of the garden, horses & cows, and £400 yearly in lieu of dower.'

The eldest son John got 40 acres. The remainder of the real and movable estate was to be sold after debts and funeral expenses and £20 to go to son Benjamin's sons; and Dority wife of Thomas Drake; and Jemima wife of Elisha Barton who were daughters.

An amount of £ was to be kept at interest by the Executors Joseph & Benjamin Vankirk with interest to be paid to wife Sarah. Witnesses were John Barton, John Hart and Jesse Pettit.

This estate was still being settled in 1841. On 23 Oct 1833 Joseph Vankirk, son of Joseph and grandson of Henry was appointed Administrator since the 1776 executors were since dead. On 29 Oct 1835 it was reported that the estate of $106.66 had increased to $509.83 because of 54 years of interest. One wonders what caused the delay and where the money was.
