Ethel was born to Henry Edward Bertling and Lora Dean Beaty Bertling on Feb. 7, 1916, in Anadarko. She grew up in Oklahoma, attending Greyhorse and Fairfax schools. She moved to New Mexico and later returned to Oklahoma. Ethel was a lifelong member of the Does Lodge.
She is survived by her sister, Helen Faye Rhodes; one grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lora Bertling; son, Richard Allen Steele; and sisters, Clara Anderson, Juanita Duke and Edna Mock.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, at Fairfax Cemetery with Rev. Doug Scott of First Christian Church of Shidler officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home.
