Anderson
Since early last winter, Mrs. Mar-
tin Anderson of Perida suffered ill
health. Medical skill seemed unable
to relieve her. Last Friday forenoon
death came to end her sufferings.
As a last resort to do for the suf-
fering woman all that could be done,
an attempt was made to take her to
a hospital in the twin cities. Mr.
Anderson and his daughter Millie
started for Grantsburg Friday morn-
ing with Mrs. Anderson, expecting
to take her on the train to the cities.
When near the Nels Sandberg place
northeast of town, the patient ex-
pired, her last words being: "Jesus
is calling me."
The remains were taken to the
Sandberg home, where Mrs. Sand-
berg and Mrs. E. L. Roberts lent
willing hands to render every assist-
ance to the grief stricken husband
and daughter. Saturday morning the
remains were conveyed to the moth-
erless home by Mr. Sandberg.
Mary Nelson Anderson was born
Jan. 14, 1860, in Wermland, Sweden.
She came to America in 1881, and
was married to Mr. Anderson in Min-
neapolis about twenty-five years ago.
Seventeen years ago the family
moved to Burnett County, settling on
the homestead at Perida where they
have lived since. Nine children were
born to Mr. and Mrs. Anderson. One
of these, Elmer, has preceded his
mother to that bourne whence no
man returneth. The other eight are
living, being Robert, Mabel, Millie,
Meda, Alden, Myrtle, Albin and Man-
del. All are living at home except
Mabel who is married to Chas. John-
son of St. Paul. They have a little
daughter, granddaughter of deceased.
The funeral was held Wednesday
afternoon from the family home, and
was largely attended by sympathizing
friends and neighbors. Rev. N. A.
Lindholm of Kruger was the officiat-
ing minister and conducted the ser-
vices in the Swedish language. F.
R. Hath had charge of the funeral
and spoke briefly in English at the
services.
Six Odd Fellows, of which order
the husband and the eldest son are
members, acted as pall bearers. They
were, D. K. Barrett, F. L. Vorce, F.
S. Christianson, Frank Ramsdell, Si-
mon West, Emil Johnson. A num-
ber of other brother Odd Fellows and
members of the Modern Woodmen of
America, were at the funeral. Mr. An-
derson being also a member of the
latter order.
From the house the funeral cortege
moved to the Karlsborg Cemetery
where the remains were laid to their
last earthly resting place. A brief
service was held there.
Relatives from abroad at the fun-
eral were, Mrs. H. Carlson, Mrs. M.
L. Anderson, Mrs E. Anderson. From
Grantsburg were, F. S. Christianson,
F. L. Vorce, Simon West, W. W. Pal-
mer, ?. W. Wogman, Chas. Saunders
