(Per Dave Smith)
from the Republican for March 18, 1954:

Grover Agan, businessman and former town board member of Pittsboro, died Friday night in the Witham hospital, Lebanon, where he was taken that morning due to a heart attack suffered March 6.

The son of Elder John F. and Mary Russell Agan, he was born near Crothersville, moving to Hendricks County when he was a boy. At 16 years of age he started to work for Carl Weaver in a butcher shop and grocery at Pittsboro, later becoming its owner. He had operated this store except two years when he farmed. Although crippled, Mr. Agan was in his store every day until he suffered the attack March 6.

He was married about 25 years ago to Maude McConnaha who survives. He was the father of four children: Dorothy and Doris Marker and Herschell, all of Pittsboro, and Rowena Buchanan of Belleville. Seven grandchildren, two sisters, four brothers and two half-sisters also survive.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Gregory Funeral Home with Elder Sherman Essex in charge. Burial was in the Lizton K. of P. cemetery.
