SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Barbara C. Abbe, 69, of South Sioux City passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at her residence.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel Wittrock officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a Scriptural wake at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Barbara was born March 16, 1941, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Russell Anthony and Catherine Irene (Mandoli) Sabatino. She was a longtime resident of South Sioux City. She married Charles Phillip "Tom" Abbe on Nov. 25, 1961, in Waukegan, Ill. Mr. Abbe passed away on Dec. 30, 2001, in South Sioux City.

Barbara liked cooking, camping, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid Husker fan, Chicago Bears fan and W.W.E. wrestling fan.

Survivors include five sons, Hoby and Marcia Abbe and Joseph Abbe, all of South Sioux City, Toby and Paula Abbe of Yankton, S.D., Phillip and Kay Abbe of Sioux City, and Thomas Abbe and his special friend, Anna Edwards of Sioux City; two daughters, Phyllis Graves of Sioux City, and Melvina Abbe of South Sioux City; four brothers, Jim and Theresa Sabatino, Michael and Vickie Sabatino, Russell and Rosemary Sabatino and Anthony and Delores Sabatino, all of Chicago, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, "Tom;" and twin sons, John and Joseph.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Gatzemeyer, Shane Cain, Mike and Pat Hartman. Pallbearers will be Josh Wilde, Ronnie, Donnie and David Stingley, Mark Boyd and Jimmy Johnson.
