CHELSEA - On May 22, 2010, Ben A. Pushard, surrounded by his family, passed on peacefully to be with the Lord.
He was born March 30, 1933, in Whitefield, to father H. Leigh Pushard, and stepmother, Nellie, of Freeport, and mother Violet E. Weymouth (Grady) and stepfather Robert, of Dresden. He was also predeceased by brother Dave Pushard, formerly of Gardiner, as well as two very important and influential male role models: great-grandfather Bouffard and family friend Charles Miller Sr., who helped raise him to be the wonderful, caring person he was.
Ben was an honorably discharged Korean War veteran.
He leaves behind many, many people who loved him greatly and will miss him immensely, including his wife of more than 55 years, Maxine B. Pushard (Whittier); daughter Tracee Pushard, of Richmond; daughter Cheryl Pushard Finley and son-in-law Dale Finley III, of Northport; granddaughters Shelby Cote and her husband, Andre, of Rockland, Erin Finley-Garcia and her husband, Hector, of San Antonio, Texas, and Taylor "Scooter" Clapp, of Richmond; great-granddaughter Nina; sister-in-law Shirley Stevens and her partner, David Smith, of Weeks Mills; sisters-in-law Sharon Dyer, of Jefferson, and Nellie Pushard; brother William Pushard, of Freeport; and many special nieces and nephews, whom he loved greatly.
Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Windsor. (Kennebec Journal 5/26/2010)
