Charles "Estues" Anderson, 63 (b. 31 Mar 1939), of Hortense, died early Thursday, Aug. 15, (2002), at the Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center in Brunswick after a long illness.

He was a native of Brantley County and was a member of Satilla Baptist Church in Hortense. He had worked for 19 years with Babcock & Wilcox Boiler Co. in Brunswick as a welder, and also with Precip-Tech in Folkston. He was the son of Charlie Anderson and Gatsy Sloan Anderson and was also preceded in death by a brother, J. T. Anderson.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty Morgan Anderson of Hortense; two daughters, Ginger Johns (John Willis) of Hortense, and Cindy Lee (Rob Ragsdale) of Tallahassee, FL; one grandson, Eric Johns, of Hortense; two sisters, Allie Mae Brauda and Nora Carver; and one brother, Homer Anderson, all of Hortense; several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, from the Satilla Baptist Church in Hortense. Burial followed at the Duck Pond Cemetery in Wayne County.

Pallbearers were Butch Gibson, Ed Hyers, Jimmy Anderson, Bobby Carver, Scott Brauda and Robert Sloan. Honorary pallbearers were Randy Batten, David Batten, Danny Batten, Donald Davis, Jerry Davis, Sammie Davis, Len Davis, Donnie Townsend, Wain Brooker, C. W. Riggins, Ervin Brauda, Red Branch and Tommy Anderson.

Chambless Funeral Home of Nahunta assisted the family with arrangements.
