Age 72, Lawton - Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Willoughby, Associate Pastor, officiating. Mrs. Ochis died Monday, February 11, 2008, in Lawton. Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

She was born February 8, 1936 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, to James Thomas and Ruby Hazel Morgan. Following her graduation from Ninnekah High School, she received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She taught Home Economics at Dibble High School during her first year of teaching and then taught fourth grade in Lawton at John Adams Elementary and seventh grade literature at Eisenhower Junior High School for 28 years. After touching many young lives in a positive way as a schoolteacher, Mrs. Ochis retired in 1988.

She married Earl Dwayne Ball on February 8, 1956 in Chickasha. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1980. She then married Ronald Ochis on June 19, 1982 in Lawton.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church and various Bible study groups, PEO Sisterhood, Quest Club, the Comanche County Retired Teachers Association, Potpourri, Sons of Italy and Beta Sigma Phi. She served on the Board of directors for the Southwest Oklahoma Opera Guild and also for the Center for Creative Living. She served as a volunteer to teach women at the Helen Holliday Home, teaching them to read and better communicate in an effort to have a positive impact on their lives and futures. Mrs. Ochis possessed a zest for living which was evident by all those with whom she had contact. She could brighten any room with her infectious smile and sense of humor. She enjoyed traveling, music, friends, and giving of herself to others and many worthy causes, but nothing compared to the love she held for her family.

She is survived by her husband, of the home; five daughters and sons in law, Susan and Jim Pendley, Lawton, Beth Ann and Mickey Eckhoff, Lawton, Kathy Nahstoll, Athens, Georgia, Karen and Dick Holloway, Fayetteville, Georgia, and Kris and COL Rick Orth, Sterling, Virginia; ten grandchildren, Ashley Pendley, Carrollton, Texas, Morgan and LilliAnn Eckhoff, Lawton, Kyle Nahstoll, Christopher Nahstoll and wife Kate, LJG Amy and Abby Holloway, and Kevin, Matthew and Stephan Orth; a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Nahstoll; a brother and sister in law, Ralph and Evelyn Morgan, Chickasha; a niece, Kristy Riddle; a nephew, Jimmy Morgan; a brother in law and sister in law, Charles and Dorothy Ochis.
