Opal Banhart, 84, of Ozark died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, in Ozark. She was born Sept. 26, 1919, in Webb city to Tommy Langston and Vera Stephens Bearden. She was a homemaker,a member of First Baptist Church of Mulberry and was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Kay Edgin. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at Shaffer Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel with burial at Highland Cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Mulberry officiated by the Rev. Ted Darling. She is survived by her husband, Iphis Banhart of Ozark; a special friend, Marilyn Hawkins of Mulberry; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and JoEllen Banhart of Van Buren; son-in-law David Edgin of Ozark; a brother, W.W. "Jinx" Bearden of Fort Smith; five grandchildren, Sonya Wickens of Ozark, Brenda Warren of Ozark, Tiffany Harris of Ozark; Jessica Banhart of Van Buren and Ryan Banhart of Van Buren; and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Steve Wickens, John Warren, Todd Harris, Ryan Banhart and David Edgin. Honorary pallbearers will be Ruth Sunday School Class from First Baptist Church in Mulberry. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mulberry chapel, 606 Church St. in Mulberry. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in Mulberry.
