According to the book,"The St Helena Parish Phillips Family" by Anna Phillips Speed,Tom is buried here in an unmarked grave after passing away from cancer.

"Records of Louisiana Confederate Soldiers"
by Andrew B. Booth have him listed as
Phillips,Thomas, Corpl. Pvt. Co. D, 12th La.Inf.
En. Aug. 18, 1861, Camp Moore, La.
Roll to Oct. 31, 1861, Absent on sick furlough for thirty days commencing Oct. 12.
Rolls May, 1862, to June,1864, Present.
Detailed as Regt.Teamster since June,1862,order Col.Scott.
Roll July and Aug., 1864, Present.

There was a statement in Mrs.Speeds book that Tom is supposed to have made
"Things i dislike is the Army, Attakapa ponies and Mississippi women !"
He also refused to sign the Amnesty Oath after the war.

Thomas H. Phillips died 2 July 1920




Thomas Hudson Phillips was son of Thomas E.Phillips
and Emily Day of St.Helena Parish La.
He was also a great uncle to young David Hudson Phillips buried here.
It is known that he lived for a time with his nephew
and niece Mr. & Mrs. Madison Monroe Phillips Jr.
