Mrs. Charles Arthaud Dies While on Visit
Body Will Be Returned Here from Washington.
Mrs. Charles P. Arthaud, 69, of 312 Jackson street, died Sunday morning at the University hospital in Washington, D. C. following an illness of three weeks. Mrs. Arthaud, who had been a patient at the Chillicothe hospital in the fall, went to Washington a month ago for a visit with her son, Richard Arthaud and her aunt, Mrs. Beulah Hunter. The body of Mrs. Arthaud, which will arrive in Marceline at 6 o'- clock Tuesday evening to be received by the Lindley Funeral Home, will lie in state at the funeral home until the hour of the services. Funeral services will be held at the chapel of the funeral home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Burial will be made in the family lot at Edgewood cemetery. Mrs. Arthaud, a daughter of Edwin and Stella (Reese) Claybrook, was born on Nov. 2, 1893, at Bucklin. She moved with her parents and sisters to Chillicothe in 1909. She spent the remainder of her life in Chillicothe and was a graduate of the Chillicothe High School. On Dec. 25, 1915, she was married to Charles P. Arthaud, who died on Dec. 26, 1959. Mrs. Arthaud leaves two sons, Charles C. Arthaud, Camden, S. Car. and Richard E. Arthaud, Washington, D. C. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Paul (Claudia) Walters, Dallas, Tex. and a granddaughter, Barbara Lee Arthaud, Camden, and aunt, Mrs. Hunter, Washington, D. C. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mrs. Daniel (Edna) Shea and Mrs. W. S. (Mary) Love.
