The son of Henry William and Cinderella Ann (Betsworth) Cummickel,he was born in Saint Charles, Illinois on September 8, 1872.
Charles was an employe of the airbrakes department of the Santa Fe railroad for 17 years. He spent eight years on a farm, then returned to Topeka several years before his death.
He married Olive Eugenia Crane on October 23, 1893. Together they had eight children: Olive Ruth, William Henry, Clarence Lester, Cloie Eugenia, Charles Edward, Laura (Lollie) M, Arthur Walter and Chester Orval.
Funeral services were held January 24, 1933 at Penwell's chapel, Topeka. Burial followed in Topeka Cemetery.
