Mary Ruth Hacker daughter of Daniel and Mary Hacker was born July 23, 1888 in Ringgold County Iowa and departed this life September 7, 1944 at the age of 56 years 1 month 14 days at her home southwest of Stafford, Kansas.
In 1902 she moved with her parents from Iowa to Pratt County, Kansas. On January 29, 1908 she united in marriage to James Calvin Adams and to this union four children were born. Three sons, Pfc. Daniel William in serice overseas located in Russell Islands, Grover, Calvin, and Franklin Jesse of the home and one daughter, Mrs. Leona Schmidt of Stafford. Five grandchildren, Nadine, Gerald, and Larry Schmidt and Patty and Dale Adams.
She also leaves to mourn her death, three brothers, F S Hacker of Strang, Nebraska, James H Hacker of Mt. Ayr, Iowa, and W E Hacker of Berryville, Arkansas, and two sisters, Mrs Nellie Glendenning of Mt Ayr, Iowa and Mrs. Julia Willard of Pratt, Kansas. Her mother, father, and two sisters, Della Burnett and Emma Michael preceded her in death. She leaves numerous other nephews, neices, relatives and friends to mourn their loss.
Funeral services were held at 3 pm Sunday at the Sappington-Calbeck Funeral Home at Pratt. Conducted by Rev. Ralph Watkins of Stafford. Interment was at the Pratt [Greenlawn] Cemetery.
