Emmaline Mae Rueter Galliher, 88, of Rushville, formerly of Vermont, died Monday, May 17, 2010, at her home.

She was born March 19, 1922, in Quincy, the daughter of Otto and Mae (Augustine) Rueter.

She married John A. Galliher on Feb. 3, 1936, in Quincy. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1992.

Surviving are
four daughters,
Mary L. Padgett of Holiday, Fla.,
Bonnie K. (husband George) Bedenbender of Rushville,
Susan M. Galliher of Burke, Va.,
and Debra A. (husband Al) Smith of Laurel, Md.;
three grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren;
two sisters-in-law,
Thelma Galliher of Staunton,
and Kathy Galliher of Midwest City, Okla.;
and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by
her parents,
two sisters, Martinus Straub,
and Ethel Beedle;
and one brother, Earl Rueter.

She was a housewife. During World War II, prior to her marriage, she was employed at an ammunitions manufacturing plant in Quincy. She was a member of the United Methodist church in Vermont for more than 30 years. Since moving to Rushville in 1992, she was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 506 in Rushville. She was also a volunteer with the Schuyler Jail Museum and Genealogical Center and wrapped bandages at Culbertson Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed crocheting.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 21, at the funeral home with Pastor David Hughes officiating.
Interment will follow in the Vermont Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to MDH Hospice.
