Mary Lamka Lashbrook, daughter of Christian and Dorothea Lamka, was born February 16, 1858, near Williamstown, Iowa, and departed this life January 23, 1950.

During her childhood, Mrs. Lashbrook lived with an uncle and aunt in Racine, Wisconsin, later going to Milwaukee to live with a married sister.

In the course of time, she married Royal Lashbrook, and in 1881 they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and to this union was born one daughter, Nellie. In 1884, they moved to Fairmont and made this their final home. Mr. Lashbrook preceded his wife in death October 9, 1916.

Mrs. Lashbrook was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the age of 14. Soon after arriving in Fairmont, she united with the Congregational church, where she was a regular attendant until age and failing health confined her to her home. She was an active member of the Rebekah lodge for many years.

She was lovingly known as "Aunty" or "Grandma" by her many friends, and her great regret was that she had outlived most of those who had known her in the days of her usefulness, when it had been her joy to nurse her neighbors through illness and help them in times of bereavement.

In her death, she leaves to cherish her memory, one sister, Mrs. Charles Burnmaster of New Hampton, Iowa; on e daughter, Mrs. C.B. Nichols of Fairmont; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her loving friendliness by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held in the Federated church, Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Willard F. Payne, the pastor officiating. Interment in the Fairmont cemetery.
