Born in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Dillard and Pearl Robertson McClain. She was retired from J.P. Stevens, Slater Plant and was of the Presbyterian faith.
Surviving are three children, Ronald Mac Ballenger, Tommy E. Ballenger, and Lynda B. Hice; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth Mitchell; a son, George E. Ballenger Jr.; one sister; and four brothers.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
