Edward J. Cavanaugh, age 78, of Baldwin passed away on December 22, 2009 at Arden Courts in Jefferson Hills after a long battle with Alzheimer`s.
He was born January 21, 1931 in Sheridan, PA to Edward J. Cavanaugh Sr. and Anna Cavanaugh (McCollum). Husband of the late Elva G. Cavanaugh (Osman); father of David Cavanaugh, Patricia Vranick, Peggy Graban, Cyndee Frizzi, Edward Cavanaugh, Robert Cavanaugh, and Timothy Cavanaugh; brother of Reverand Harry Cavanaugh C.PP.S., Betty Sterling, and Dan Cavanaugh. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Edward graduated from St. Francis deSales High School in 1949.
He proudly served as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956. He graduated from Duquesne University in 1953 with a BS in Business Administration. Edward was employed at Westinghouse for 35 years.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 7-9pm and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer`s Association 100 West Station Square Dr. Suite 500 Pittsburgh, PA 15129.
