Robert Edward Bell was born in the old Graham/Calhoun Hotel in Auraria, Lumpkin Co., Ga. during the Civil War while his father was in active service during the war and a Prisoner of War. His mother, Emily Adaline Wade Bell, was the daughter of Joseph Berry Wade and Sarah Medely Odell Wade who lived about a mile from the hotel toward Dahlonega.
Her father and previously her husband were Gold Miners during the first Gold Rush in the United States. She was living in the hotel from the time of her marriage to Robert's father, Joseph Henry Bell (1819-1905).
Robert E "Bob" Bell 1st married Anna Elizabeth Lee 11 Nov 1885 in Kaufman Co., Tx. where the family had moved from Ga. in 1869. They had at least 3 children: Maude "Bertie" Bell (1888-1968), Sally Mae Bell (1889-1966) and Robert Charley Bell (1893-1894). After the death of first wife he married Emma Amanda Thompson Allen (1876-1959) 1897 in Rockwall Co., Tx, widow of E.G. Allen.
Emma and E.G. Allen had 1 son, John Tinital "J.T." Allen (1895-1977) who was raised in the Bell household.
Robert & Emma's children were: Lee Bell (1898-1900), Annie B. Bell (1900-1986), Daisy S. Bell (1901-2005), Fred Joseph "Freddie" Bell (1904-1965), Euell D. Bell (1908-1990), Jewell Bell (1911-1911) Robert W. Bell (1912-1979) and Hazel Bell (1916-1925).
