Van Alstyne - Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Van Alstyne Methodist Church for John Hardy Blythe, 81, of Van Alstyne. Blythe died at 12:50 p.m. Saturday. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Rev. Don Davis will conduct services. Burial will be in Holloway Cemetery under direction of Flesher Funeral Home. He was born Oct 21, 1880, in Ripley, Miss., the son of Henry and Francis Blythe. He married Nora Bell Martin Nov. 16, 1902, at Gibtown. Survivors are his wife; three sons, Elmer Blythe of Denison, Leonard Blythe of Van Alstyne, and Homer Blythe of Sherman; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Austin of Gunter, Mrs. A.C. Blass of Abilene, and Mrs. E.R. Anderson of Dallas; one sister, Mrs. L.C. Enochs of Mesquite; 14 grandchildren. 17 great-grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
The family will be at the funeral home Sunday from 7 until 9 p.m.
