The death of Elmer E. Hammond , age 52 years, one of the most prominent farmers in Madison County, occured this morning at 7 o'clock at the home three and one-half miles southeast of the city, of heart trouble. Mr. Hammond was a member of Joyce Chapel Methodist church south of the city. He is survived by a wife and one daughter, Mrs. Alva Berg, living on the farm. One sister, Mrs. Floyd Connelly resides on a farm southeast of the city, and two brothers, Rev. R.G. Hammond, Keyser, W. Va, and George H. Hammond, southeast of the city are left.
Fulfilling a last request of the deceased man two undertakers were called to the Hammond home this morning to make the funeral arrangements. J.F. Merker and E.E Davis, both Alexandria undertakers and intimate friends of the Hammond family, will have charge of the funeral.
