Death (13 September 1891): James' obit reads as follows, "Death of an old Citizen. Snodgrass September 13th1891 at his homein Sugar Creek Township, Clinton County, Indiana. James Snodgrass in the 86th year of his age.
Deceased was born June 20th,1806 in the State of Virginia. In 1818 he came with his father to Jefferson conty Indiana, where he was married to Miss Anna Jones, January 15th, 1828. In 1831mmr. Snodgrass moved to Decatur county, Indiana where he remained until 1847, when he came to Clinton county, settling in Sugar Creek township, where he lived until his death.
In 1887 his wife, the love of his youth, the helpmate of his life, and the joy of his old age,was called to rest. This sore affliction was a terrible blow but he survived it, calmly awaiting the summons of the Maker to come also.
The desceased had five children living at the time of his death; Samuel Snodgrass of kirklin township, Susan Reed, wife of William Reed, and leonard Snodgrass of Michigan township, Jemima Gano and James Snodgrass of Sugar Creek township.
In early life Mr. Snodgrass united with the Christian church, since which time he always had that blessed hope of a crown of life that fadrth not away, believing in the restitution of all things spoken by God through the mouths of his holy prophets since the world began. Thus in his death passed away an advocate of temperance and sobriety in every form, as an old pioneer, a life long democrat, a practical Christian and a respected father."
