Mrs. Julia A. Leftwich, age 74, died suddenly Tuesday morning at 10:25 after a slight stroke of paralysis, Sunday at the home of her son-in-law, T.E. Reynolds about 6 miles from Bedford, where she made her home.

Mrs. Leftwich was a widow for 36 years. She is survived by five sons: Luther of Henderson, NC; William of New York; Joseph and Daniel of Brownsville, TX; Lynch of Big Island and five daughters, Mrs. L.M. Marshall of Cifax; Mrs. E.F. Alcock of Forest; Mrs. A.T. Overstreet of Bellevue; Mrs. W.O. Matthews of Lynchburg and Mrs. T.E. Reynolds at whose home she passed away. She was also survived by 32 grand children and five brothers and three sisters, E.G. Abbott of Roanoke; William D. of Bedford Springs; Joseph and Burkley of Cifax; Marcus O. of Florida; Mrs. R.C. Saunders of Bedford; Mrs. Eumeria Snead of Lynchburg and Mrs. James Hawkins of Roanoke.

The funeral was held Thursday at 2 o'clock at Mt. Carmel near Perrowville where she had been a member in early life, but after the death of her husband, moved her membership to Calvary Baptist Church in Roanoke, being a faithful Christian for 54 years.

The funeral services were conducted by Dr. H.P. Clause of Bedford, assisted by Dr. E.L. Peerman and Rev. Clark, pastor of church.

Active pallbearers were Dallas Allcock, Landon Leftwich, Lonnie Marshall, Maurice Overstreet, Harry Reynolds and Winston May. Honorary pallbearers; Robert Reynolds, E.J. Lazenby, Crisman Hardy and John Reynolds. Flowers were carried by Misses Reva Alcock (Williams), Myrtle Alcock (May) and Sarah Alcock (Reynolds), Helen Marshall (Reynolds) and Edith Marshall (Slepetz, Rose and Margaret Leftwich, Jane Overstreet, Inez Hawks and Mrs. Dallas (Pauline) Allcock.
