Lillian Rundell, daughter of Elijah and Rosina (Stevens) Rundell, was born in Fond lu Lac, Wisc., October 18, 1959, and passed away March 28, 1949, at the Soldier's and Sailor's Home i Grand Island, Nebraska, at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 10 das.

When five years old, her mother died and she went to live with an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. James Patrick in Winnebago, Ill., where she grew to womanhood.

At the age of sixteen, she was converted and united with the Free Methodist Church. December 3, 1879, she was married to Charles E. Stiles and came with him to Fairmont, Neb., and became a member of this church, and remained a loyal supporter until called to the Church Triumphant.

Her husband passed away August 4, 1894, and on March 8, 1900, she married T.J. Bender, who lived on a farm three and one-half miles west of town. A few years later they moved into town where Mr. Bender operated the light plant and water works.

Mr. Bender passed away January 1, 1939, and since that time, she has lived at the home in Grand Island, where she has had the best of care. She was a lover of poetry and loved to quote her favorites. She had no children of her own, but took an orphan boy and gave hime the name of Fay Stiles, who now lives hear Torrington, Wyo.

The living step-children are Mrs. Lettie Rothwell of Tacoma, Wash., Frank Bender of North Platte, Urbanus Bender of Holly Mich., Mrs. Alda Kellogg of Edgemont, S.D., Dwight Bender of Powell, Wyo., Hubert Bender of Deadwood, S.D., and Elwood Bender of Fairmont.

The funeral services for Mrs. T.J. Bender were held in the Fairmont Methodist Church last Thursday, March 31, with Rev. L.A.Fishel officiating. The singers were Oliver Moul and Mrs. W.R. Dorrance, with Mrs. A.P. Stewart at the organ. Interment in the Fairmont cemetery beside her first husband, Charles E. Stiles. Pallbearers were Harry Bergstrand, Ross Dorrance, John Keller, George Schepers, Harry Mills and George White.

Those attending from out of town were Alton K. Rundell of Stafford, Kansas, Mrs. May Rundell Brown and Mrs. Vivian McFadden of Dodge City, Kansas, Mrs. Florence Hoskinson of Montezuma, Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Halverson of Lincoln and Dr. and Mrs. L.E. Stiles.

Mr. Rundell and three sisters remained over night with their sister, Mrs. Eldwood Bender, returning home on Friday. Mrs. Brown will remain a few days longer.
