Dec. 27, 1928 - May 5, 2010
SALEM - Elma was born December 27, 1928 to Elmer and Margaret White in Silverton, Oregon. She married LEO J. BARCLAY August 15, 1947 and they spent most of their lives living on the Oregon coast. He preceded her in death in 1991.
She enjoyed all the homemaking skills and loved to read and write poetry including the following. Communion By Elma Barclay Oh, I love to go where the sea winds blow in the beautiful dunes of sand. Where the air is pure and I feel secure, at one with the sky and the land. There I know such devotion for the endless blue ocean. Could heaven be here where I stand? As I gaze out to sea, I can contemplate me and I believe I rest in God's hand. For here I am free and content just to be, a part of the wonders He planned.
She is survived by her children, Leona (Gary) Goodrich, Dallas, Oregon, Nancy Barclay, Columbia, Illinois, William (Cathi) Barclay, Brookings, Oregon; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
No services will be held at her request. Private interment at Restlawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Union Gospel Mission or the Human Society of the Willamette Valley in care of the Bollman Funeral Home at 694 Main St. Dallas, Oregon 97338.
