OBITUARY OF GEORGE R. ROQUET

George R. Roquet, son of Lewis and Margaret Yeoman Roquet, was born March 19,1876, at Fremont, and passed away after a lingering illness at West Union on Tuesday, April 2, at the age of Eighty-one years.

On December 29, 1898, he was united in marriage with Grace May Lamphiear at Volga. To this union ten chidren were born. They began farming at Volga, soon moving to Fremont, where they farmed until 1920. They continued farming at various locations, including Strawberry Point, Ada, Minn., and Cohasset, Minn., returning to Arlington in 1925. After the death of his wife, Mr. Roquet broke up housekepping about 1941 and lived with his sons and daughters. For the past four years he had lived with his daughter, Dollie, at Fairbank.

He was a member of the Church of Christ in Arlington. He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Clyde, one granddaughter, one grandson, one great granddaughter, one brother and one sister.

Surviving are nine children: Vern, of Ada, Minn.; Donald, of Maynard: Georgia Pierce, of Cohasset, Minn.; Edna Hall, of Arlington; Dollie Peters, of Fairbank; Richard, of Waterloo; Robert, of Maynard; John, of Arlington; Waneta Ohl, of Needles, Calf.; also 39 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Hockett, Enterprise, Oregon, and Mrs. Ethel Robbins, Ottumwa; four brothers, Chester and Ira, of Fremont; Hamer, of Long Beach, Calif., and Earl of Des Moines, besides several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ on Saturday, APril 6, with William H. Seeley officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Lowell Dallenbach and Mrs. Max Seedorff, accompanied by Mrs. Florian Burchett. Pallbearers were Floyd Pierce, jr., Harold Roquet, Jerry Roquet, David Roquet, Dale Hall and Raymond Peters. Burial was at the cemetery in Volga.
