Served in the Revolutionary War from April 10, 1777 to Dec 31, 1779. Was wounded in the legs and is recognised and proved by the Daughters of the American Revolution as a Patriot. Fought in the battle of Bunker Hill.

The document to the left which is a portion of the official evidence and documentation for application of Revolutionary War Pension for Abraham Wellman, contains the signature of my grandfather Abraham Wellman, and my grandfather Daniel Axtell who was the justice of the peace at the time and the signature of General Lewis Delano Boynton, my great uncle and married to my 3rd great grand aunt Ruth Wellman Boynton. Lewis Delano Boynton was directly descended from Philip Delano who arrived on the Fortune,one of the orginial three ships of the Mayflower pact and landed at Plymouth in 1621.
