Mr. Joe Carter Deal Sr., age 75, died Tuesday at Memorial Medical Center. The Bulloch County native lived many years in Savannah before returning to Statesboro over 35 years ago. Mr. Deal was the owner of American Garden's Nursery and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Campbell Deal of Statesboro; one daughter, Pamelia Deal Boyce, and her husband, Donald, of Midway, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe Carter Deal Jr., and his wife, Elaine of Knoxville, Tenn. and Ronald Wayne Deal, and his wife, Nan of Watkinsville, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Sherry Knight, and her husband, Michael of Guyton; one stepson, Gary Miller, and his wife, Treasea of Tacoma, Wash.; two granddaughters, three grandsons, two step granddaughters, three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mildred Lewis of Statesboro, Mary and Don Taylor of Portal and Janelle and Raybon Anderson of Statesboro; four brothers, Carl Deal of Statesboro, Dan and Nellie Deal of Brooklet, Franklin and Latrell Deal of Statesboro and Bunny and Sally Deal of Statesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
