Ellen is the daughter of Martin and Bridget nee Duffy Walsh. One of 14 children born to Martin, Ellen was one of 11 sisters that came to the United States and settled into the Springfield (9) and Chicago (2) Illinois areas.

Ellen married Thomas Joseph Brennan by 1882, I'm guessing in Springfield. They raised at least 12 children in Springfield where they both spent the rest of their lives.
