Luanne Shannon Ballow October 23, 1930 - May 2, 2010 Luanne Shannon Ballow, born October 23, 1930 in Bakersfield, California to Perry and Eleanor Shannon, and died on May 2, 2010 at San Joaquin Hospital. She graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in San Diego then attended San Diego State University earning a BA degree in elementary education in 1951. Luanne taught one year in San Diego and then returned to Bakersfield and taught two years at Franklin Elementary School. She then married Eugene Ballow on June 12, 1955. After marrying her husband, they moved to Arvin, CA where she taught primary grades at Sierra Vista Elementary School. Retiring for a few years to raise her two sons, she then returned to her teaching career at DiGiorgio Elementary School and taught primary grades for over 20 years. Luanne is survived by her husband, Gene and her two sons, John and Paul. She also leaves two grandchildren, Alec and Jordan. She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Carol Hattersley in February. A private inurnment will be held at the Union Cemetery Mausoleum and a memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. on May 10, 2010 with reception following at the church.
