Ropp service scheduled for Tuesday
John Robert Ropp , 57, a resident of both Blackwell and Deer Creek, died at 6:40 p.m. saturday March 12 in the Blackwell Nursing Home after a long illness. His funeral is set for 2 p.m.Tuesday in the memorial chapel of the Hackler-Porter funeral Home in Blackwell, Ok. The Rev Tuney Ropp of Hillsdale Baptist Church near Meeker, Ok, will officate.
Burial will be at Mt.Olive Cementery in Nardin, OK.
Those serving as casketbearers will be Bartin Ropp,
Buford Ropp,Danny Ropp,Tim Ropp,David Jackson and Cris Ropp.
Masonic rites will be conducted by Chikaskia
Masonic Lodge No.109 of Blackwell.
Mr.Ropp was born Nov.12,1930 in Dewey, OK. His parents were Walter Ross Ropp and Bettie Sue (Haggard) Ropp.
He came to Deer Creek in 1953 from Dewey.
In 1963 he moved to Blackwell where he was employed for many years at the Blackwell Zink and Blackwell Steel.
He married Bernis Christine (Potts) Freeman on Dec .4,1963 in
Newkirk OK. They made there home in Blackwell. He returned to Deer Creek in 1981.He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Chikaskia Masonic Lodge in Blackwell.
Mr. Ropp Played on the 1947.Dewey Bulldogs State championship football Team and Graduated from Dewey, High School.
He was a 32 Degree Mason.
his is survived by a son, John Robert Ropp ,jr, of Blackwell
five step sons Steve,Mike Ricky and Terry Freeman,all of Blackwell,and Tim Freeman of Broken Arrow, OK. four brothers ,walter Ropp jr of Deer creek Ray Ropp of Bartlesville, OK.George and carl Ropp of Dewey OK:and
Florence Jackson of Bartlesville OK.and one Grandson Cory Lee Freeman .
He was preceided in death by his parents . three brothers Edward Ropp,William O.Ropp,Clarence Henry Ropp,and Two sisters, Bettie Mae Ropp, and Martha Jane Ropp,one Grandson
