THELMA M BETTS--96:
of StateCollege, died Thursday [3-11] at home. Born 13 Jun 1902 in Newton IA, a dau of Sheldon & Floybelle Frary Marshall, she was formerly married to Emmett A Betts-Penn State faculty member. She was a graduate of Grinnell College-Iowa. She taught at MrsBissey's kindergarten in StateCollege & for 25 years wrote the "Rambling Around with Sue" column in the Centre Daily Times. Her memberships included American Association of University Women, faculty women's antique interest group & book club, State College Presbyterian Church & the Presbyterian Church Women's Association. She was also the housemother for Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. She was a world traveler, an avid gardener & a member of several bridge groups.
She is survived by 3 daus: Beverly Pitts-Bay Village OH, Shirley Betts-State College & Margaret Meckley-Timonium MD; 5 grand children & 9 gr-grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Koch Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
