Myrna L. Boal was born December 22, 1920 to Hugh and Anna (Rishel) Boal on a farm north of Vivian, South Dakota.

As a young girl she attended country school for three and one-half years before her parents moved into the town of Vivian. The rest of her school years were spent in the Vivian school from which she graduated.

She was united in marriage to Wilmer Abel on March 18, 1939 at Valentine, Nebraska. They made their home in Presho, South Dakota, until the fall of 1951 when the family moved to Murdo. While in Murdo, she worked in the REA office. In the fall of 1955, the family moved to Midland. In 1956 she started working at the Midland Bank, a position she held until 1983 when she retired. From 1985 to 1990 they spent the winter months in Tucson, Arizona.

After her husband's death on December 20, 1991, she continued to reside in Midland.

Because of health reasons she moved to the Silverleaf Assisted Living in Philip in September 2001.

Grateful for having shared her life are two daughters, Miriam Schilling and her husband Ivan of Midland, and Kay Payne and her husband Norman of Philip; four grandchildren Craig Schilling and his wife Lynnette of Mitchell, Camilla Henle and her husband Wayne of Gillette, Wyoming, Carmelita Chase and her husband Ray of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Kaelyn McSherry and her husband Chris of Rapid City; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Reita Bechard of Presho; and a host of other relatives and friends.
