A Glendive native, his parents were Anna Reinholz and Earl D. Ayers. He married Kathleen Lynch. He was a Burlington Northern Railroad Supervisor and was transferred in 1969 from Glendive to Laurel.
He had been chairman of the park Board in Glendive for 10 years and was a member of the VFW, The Elks, the NP Association and the Trails End Rifle and Pistol Club, all of Glendive. He served in Europe during World War II with the 35th Airborne Squadron of the Air Force.
Survivors include the widow of Laurel; three daughters; Donielle Slanina of Chehalis, Wash., Lorielle Ayers at home, and Leslie Little of Bozeman, Montana, a granddaughter, a brother Earl Ayers Jr. of Billings.
