Helen M. Althouse, 95, of Sibley died at 5:35 p.m. Saturday (May 1, 2010) at the Gibson Area Hospital-Annex.
Mrs. Althouse was born Jan. 16, 1915, in Sullivant Township, a daughter of Fred G. and Rosa E. Kerber Brucker. She married C. Donald Althouse on June 18, 1935, in Gibson City. He died on Nov. 13, 1998.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Monahan and Pauline Beyer.
Helen worked at Hicksgas in Colfax for 20 years and also helped her husband farm. She enjoyed collecting cat figurines and loved beautiful things and people. In her later years of life she enjoyed painting pictures of the things she loved. Most important to her was socializing with family and friends and sharing her eye for style and design.
