BOLT IN STORM KILLS IDAHOAN
Youth Dies While Driving Buggy;
Brother Suffers Injury From Shock
Malad, Idaho - One of five brothers, driving home in a buggy from work in the fields, was killed by lightning at 7 p.m. Monday a quarter of a mile south of here. A second brother was rendered unconscious for about half an hour, while the other three were knocked from the rig by the force of the bolt, but otherwise were uninjured.
Albert Madsen, 16, was killed; his brother, Ray, lost consciousness, while Dee, Clifford, Ray (sic) and Reed Madsen were not hurt. All are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Oliver (Mary Ann Dalton) Madsen. The dead youth is the third oldest in the family.
The boys had been working in a field ten miles south of here, and when they neared town an electrical storm arose. The bolt struck and killed one of the pair of horses Albert was driving and the electricity followed up the lines, killing the youth.

FINAL RITES ARE HELD FOR LIGHTNING VICTIM
Malad, Idaho - Impressive funeral services were held for Albert Madsen, 18-year-old (sic) son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Madsen, who was killed by lightning Monday evening. Bishop Leo Williams of Cherry Creek presided. The order of the services was: Selection by choir; invocation, President Thomas W. Richards; remarks, William H. Madsen (uncle of Albert); vocal solo by Margaret Edwards Jones; remarks, T. A. Smith, ex-bishop of Cherry Creek ward; remarks, William J. Williams of Cherry Creek, vocal duet, Kate Jones and Merl Reynolds accompanied by Miss Annie Evans; remarks by superintendent of the Cherry Creek Sunday school; remarks, Daniel P. Woodland, first counselor in the presidency of the stake; remarks by Bishop Leo Williams; selection by the choir; benediction by President Edward N. Crowther. Burial was made in the Malad cemetery with Guy Benson dedicating the grave.
