Joshua Gates (Thomas2, George1), born April 26, 1708 in East Haddam, CT, baptized June 13, 1708, married, 8 July 1736, Lydia Brainerd, second daughter of Capt. Joshua and Mehitable (Dudley) Brainerd of East Haddam. He was admitted to full communion in the First Church of East Haddam, November 23, 1740. He died in East Haddam, December 22 or 23, 1791 and was buried near the First Church.
