PIERCE COUNTY TRIBUNE---January 9, 1995
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 7 at First Lutheran Church, Rugby, for Kenneth Herbert Axvig, 76, Rugby, who died Wednesday, January 4 at a Minot hospital.
Burial followed in the Hitterdal Lutheran Cemetery near Adams.
Mr. Axvig was born December 6, 1918 on his family's farm near Milton, a son of Edwin and Ragnhild Axvig. He attended rural school in Montrose Township and married Dorothy Ingulsrud November 8, 1942 at Hitterdal Lutheran Church near Milton. They lived in Hoople where he worked on a farm. In 1958 they moved to Rugby where he started his own business, Axvig Candy Company. He retired in 1980. He was a member of the Rugby Eagles and First Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Rugby; sons Keith Axvig, Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, Dale Axvig, Cando and Dave Axvig, Rugby; a sister, Ruby Flack, Milton; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; three step grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Willard Axvig.
Rev. Aanen Gjovik officiated at the service. Pam Anderson was the organist and George Vangsnes and Cyndie Perkerewicz were vocalists.
Casket bearers were Roger Seim, Arlin Melgaard, Lee Cudmore, Leonard Momerak, Mark Fjeld, Earl Axvig, Richard Perkerewicz, Tim Gire and Johnathon Fjeld.
Honorary casket bearers were Morris Halvorson, Les Johnson, Gene Hanson, Lawrence Benson, Edward Yoder, Roger Hersey, Bill Paterson, Gordon Lykken, Donald Aune and Dr. Harold Vigeland.
