Also in 1860 in San Augustine, Texas he is listed as Alexander C. Ardrey, b. Miss living with Mary Burton as her two sons, (Possibly he's a nephew or some relation. )
By 1870 he is married to Susan and they have moved back to Wilkinson Co. Miss. living in a boarding house as A. C. and S. A. Ardrey. There is also what appears to be her younger brother staying there, J. S. Downs. Then by 1900, he has moved back to Texas in Dallas. Listed as Alexander C. Ardrey, b. July 1844, widowed. His daughter Helen Ardrey and a sister-in-law, Rebecca Downs are living with him along with several other boarders.
