Mary E. Sullivan
Was born in Portsmouth NH in 1858 Her family moved to Nevada some time in 1869 to start a General Store in the Gold Hill area, Mary the only Child (Then) Of Patrick and Mary Sullivan(Nee Hazell) Died of Scarlet Fever a little over a month after her 16th Birthday on April 29th 1874,
Her Death broke her Parents Hearts So they Sold their General Store in Gold Hill NV and moved to Dry Town (Yes that's the name) California in 1875, They later had a Son Patrick 1877-1951 (Born in Dry Town CA.) Who later in Life Moved to Renton WA. The Attached Photo of Mary age 8 or 9 is Courtesy of Franklin Sullivan Who was kind enough to let me copy this photo of his Great Aunt Mary for Find A Grave
He asked me to find Her Grave the Next time I visited Gold Hill Nevada so I did. I took a Photo of the Grave but Frank has the only copy So it will be added later.
The Photo has the Photographer Carl Meinerth...Portsmouth NH and has a three cent tax stamp on the back that would date it from 1863-67 there is a inked Memory on the back that reads "Or Beloved Mary Now at rest with the Lord 1858-74" The other two Photos are of Mary's Parents Patrick & Mary Sullivan with Baby Mary(?) on her lap. Photo taken by same Photographer as Mary's some time around 1859.
Both Parents are believed to be buried in Dry Town CA.
The other Photo is of Partick Sullivan, The Brother She Never Knew as she had died 3 years before his birth in 1877
