Ruth Marie Anderson, 88, of Belleville, passed away April 19, 2010, at the Willows Nursing Facility.

She was born Nov. 9, 1921 in Belleville, a daughter of the late Caleb Alonzo "Lon" and Jennie Bell Swain Smith. She was a member of the Milhone Ridge Baptist Church, a homemaker, and a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband, Virgil Anderson; two daughters, Joyce Geer and husband John, and Janet Friesenhengst and husband Ron, also of Belleville; two granddaughters, Sherri Morrison and husband Bill of Belleville, and Mandy Holshouser and husband Todd of Rockwell, N.C.; three grandsons, Andy Geer of Kansas City, Mo., Daniel Friesenhengst and wife Erika of Ironton, Ohio, and Adam Friesenhengst of Kanapolis, N.C.; five great-grandchildren, Tony, Amber, Drew, Hunter and Greysen; and one sister, Rita Alden of Marietta, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Rex and Ralph Smith.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Darrell Johnson and Rev. Ronald Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be today from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
