Mary was born in Cambria, OK. She grew up in the Hartshorne area and, other than a brief time in Michigan and Georgia, she had lived here all her life. She was married to Bill Curbow in McAlester in 1952 and he preceded her in death in 2001. She worked as a seamstress at Seamprufe for several years. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her vegetable gardens and flower gardens, as well as her pecan trees. She also enjoyed cooking for all her family. She and her husband also enjoyed going to auctions and sales all around the area. She was affiliated with the Hartshorne Christian Church. She was a resident of Hartshorne and passed away at a local nursing center. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Liz and Barney Rosso, of Hartshorne; two grandchildren, Nathan Sparks and his wife, Mary, of Hartshorne, and Cody Rosso and his wife, Tess, of McAlester; five great-grandchildren, Paige and Brayden Sparks, Kenlon Rosso, Kory Sparks and Shi Dugger, and two sisters, Rose Garmon, Gainesville, Ga., and Jenny Kubiski, of Hartshorne. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Billy Curbow; a grandson, Rick Sparks, and seven siblings.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Sitters, Richard Mathews, Jim Rosso, Kent Deligens, James Smart, Fred Ratliff and Matt Thurman. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elmwood Cemetery Pavilion with Mark Day officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.
